Paragliding Sites In Turkey

Turkey is suitable for many nature sports with its geography.

  • It has 4 seasons, is a peninsula with coasts to 4 different seas (Mediterranean, Aegean, Marmara and Black Sea), and has unique beauties with its mountains, mountain ranges, lakes and rivers.

Many sports such as paragliding, skiing, canoeing, diving, trekking, mountaineering, fishing etc. are actively done. The most enjoyable seasons for paragliding are summer and spring. Although it is an inevitable fact that winter is quite enjoyable even under suitable conditions, you need to dress quite thickly in order not to get cold while gliding from a high mountain, and the weather in winter is not as suitable for flying as in spring and summer due to precipitation, wind and snow.

Book In Advance

Before paragliding, it would be the best decision to check the weather conditions in the region you plan to do it and not leave it to the last minute. Since your personal weather knowledge will mostly be insufficient, our suggestion to you would be to talk to a company or pilot you plan to do it with in advance. Instead of leaving it to the last minute and facing the fact that the weather is not suitable, having prior knowledge will be beneficial for you.

The locations where paragliding can be done in Turkey are endless, but along with the places that are quite popular in commercial terms, we have compiled the most beautiful locations for paragliding in Turkey, which we think will provide you with a little guidance in advance if you want to do it:

The Most Beautiful Locations for Paragliding in Turkey

1 - Babadağ - Ölüdeniz

When it comes to paragliding, the first destination that comes to mind is Babadağ - Ölüdeniz. If you ask what is the reason for this, Ölüdeniz, which fascinates everyone with its nature, is a pristine beach extending from the foothills of Babadağ with an altitude of 1950m. Located in the Fethiye district of Muğla at the intersection of the Mediterranean and the Aegean, Ölüdeniz is also quite safe in terms of flight safety with its geography and climate. The weather conditions are suitable for flying almost every day unless there is rain or storm. It hosts the world-famous Air Games and FAI Competitions every year. Babadağ, which has 5 separate take-off runways of 1200 - 1700 - 1800 - 1900 - 1960 meters, offers an average of 20-30 minutes of flight experience by gliding over Ölüdeniz.

Another advantage of this activity, which takes 1.5 to 2 hours in total, is that it goes on a different adventure from start to finish. The road to Babadağ is a winding forest road of about half an hour, in our opinion, who doesn’t like the forest road? It can have a negative side, which is that this winding road can cause nausea. Therefore, our preference is to take our guests up by cable car, chat with them in the forest and sea view, satisfy their curiosity and reach the takeoff point. In your flight reservation with us, there is no extra charge for the cable car and it is included in the activity. During the flight, you will witness the unique view of the Mediterranean, Aegean, Rhodes, Butterfly Valley and many bays. The landing area is Ölüdeniz Beach. It is both very safe for landing and has a different beautiful view every hour.

2 - Antalya - Tahtalı

Tahtalı located within the borders of Kemer district of Antalya, Olympos Beydağları National Park, is the highest altitude paragliding destination that actively carries out commercial activities. In order to fly in Tahtalı, you first go up to the mountain by cable car, the flight takes about 30-50 minutes due to its high altitude. The view of the Mediterranean, Kemer, Çıralı, Adrasan and Olympos is fascinating throughout the flight. Due to its altitude and geography, it is suitable for flying in shorter periods compared to Babadağ. Tahtalı, which has a single peak for take-off, requires more caution in weather conditions compared to Babadağ’s runways at 5 different altitudes. The landing area after the flight is Tekirova or Çıralı Beach depending on the weather conditions. Taking precautions by calculating the weather conditions in your holiday plan is also very important for paragliding in Tahtalı.

3 - Denizli - Pamukkale

Pamukkale, which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is best known for Hierapolis, Pamukkale Travertines, thermal pools and hot air balloons although paragliding experience is also frequently preferred here. With an altitude of 800 meters, it is a good starting point for beginner pilots and those who want to overcome their fears. You can enjoy watching the lush green hills and the Black Sea throughout the flight and land in Ormanlı Beach or in the surrounding areas depending on the wind conditions. It is also useful to remind you that summer and spring are more preferred for flights and if you have a plan to experience it, contacting beforehand will be beneficial for you and effective in your holiday planning. Also, you cannot go to Istanbul without seeing the Black Sea and you will not regret having such an experience.

6 - Istanbul - Uçmakdere

Uçmakdere is connected to the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ. It is more commonly known as Istanbul, and it is quite easy to reach from Istanbul, depending on your location, it is 1-2 hours away. Paragliding is done at altitudes of 250-600 meters on the slopes of Ganos Mountain overlooking the Marmara Sea. It can usually offer a longer flight experience with its thermal currents. During the flight, which lasts an average of 10-25 minutes, you land on Uçmakdere Beach with the view of the Marmara Sea, islands, vineyards and the surrounding forest. Uçmakdere, which is the most preferred for tandem paragliding in Istanbul, usually offers a better flight experience in the afternoon. You may also need to act early for availability in the spring and summer seasons.

7- Istanbul - Mimaroba

Mimaroba, which is not far from the city, is located in Büyükçekmece. Although Büyükçekmece is a bit far from the center of Istanbul, it is a more accessible and decent settlement. In general, take-off is made from the 50-100 meter hills around Büyükçekmece, Mimaroba, Büyükçekmece Lake, the coastline and the Marmara Sea accompany you throughout the flight. The flight takes 5-15 minutes depending on the average weather conditions. The take-off is done in a wide and safe area on the top of Ali Mountain, and it is quite easy to catch strong thermal currents at an altitude of 1750 meters. The flight takes an average of half an hour, and it is possible to extend this a little more with thermal currents. During the flight; You will be watching Kayseri city center, Erciyes Mountain and wide steppes. The landing area is made in wide areas within the Talas district.
